The Men's Lacrosse team is a non-sponsored sport at the University of Dayton. Playing a non-sponsored sport means intense competition, lots of travel across a large geographical region, and plenty of costs. Every student athlete participates in a fundraising campaign to raise the necessary working capital to meet the team's cash flow requirements.
Approach
First, a website was created to communicate current news and events, recruit prospective players, and collect sponsorships from local companies. The website was a success, and a poster was designed to increase fundraising opportunities by selling ad space.
Result
The website and posters raised attendance levels, resulted in over $2000 of fundraising and donations, and led to the largest recruitment class in team history.
